Kellum Law Firm is conveniently located in Eastern North Carolina and limits its practice to personal injury, workers’ compensation, defective products, Social Security disability, and wrongful death cases. In recent years we have grown from one office to nine with attorneys and staff to cover the entire region. Kellum Law Firm is an AV rated law firm in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory with 8 attorneys, and more than 35 support personnel. Many of our cases are referred to us by prior and existing clients, their friends, and relatives.

History of Kellum Law Firm
John W. Beaman began the general practice of law in New Bern, NC in 1937 and continued without interruption, but for World War II Army service, until his death in 1984.
In 1968, the partnership of Beaman and Kellum was formed with the addition of Norman B. Kellum, Jr. The firm has undergone several name changes throughout the years, but has been Kellum Law Firm since January 2000. The firm practices in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, defective products, workers’ compensation and Social Security disability claims.
Norman Kellum was born in Maysville, NC but was raised in New Bern. He graduated from New Bern High School, Wake Forest College and Wake Forest Law School. He was a lieutenant in the 101st Airborne Division while on active duty with the U.S. Army. He was a law clerk on the North Carolina supreme court and has practiced law since 1966.
John T. Briggs joined the firm in December 1994 after serving as a US Navy JAG Officer in Japan.
Russell L. Needell joined the firm in March 1997 after serving as an Assistant City Attorney, in Columbus, Ohio, practicing as an insurance defense attorney and in plaintiff's personal injury for 16 years.
J. Kevin Jones joined the firm in 1998 after practicing in Carteret County for over five years in the areas of personal injury and workers’ compensation. He is a board-certified workers' compensation specialist.
Jeffrey W. Phillips joined the firm in August 2003 after passing the North Carolina Bar exam that same month.
Ed Braswell joined the firm in July 2005 after practicing for several years in insurance defense.
Justin P. Moyer joined the firm in May, 2006 after practicing a year in Statesville, NC.
J. Heath Finley joined the firm in October, 2008 after working in Insurance Defense locally for 2 years.
Craig Keenhold joined the firm in December 2001. He moved to New Bern from Denver, Colorado where he worked as a Marketing Director for many years.
The practice is conducted mainly in Eastern North Carolina with offices in New Bern, Jacksonville, Greenville, Goldsboro, Rocky Mount, Morehead City North Carolina, Roanoke Rapids and Williamston.
